S. Florida singles turn to roommates

For Kristina Aston, it comes down to the wood floors and the banana and mango trees in the grassy yard that abuts the Little River. On her own, the 37-year-old furniture importer can't afford the three-bedroom house with an office she rents in El Portal. But she doesn't want to downsize to a cramped apartment, the only thing she can afford on her single income in South Florida's rental market.
